Future Trek: Norwegian Mountains, 2015
Participants on IP-Trek 2015 (Norwegian Mountains) will meet on the rugged western coast of Norway in the town of Alesund, 560km northwest of Oslo. They will boat inland on the UNESCO World Heritage Geiranger fjord which is renowned for its steeply rising shores and wild waterfalls. They will trek for 5 days, staying overnight at huts of the Norway Trekking Association. The trekking route will take the group through spectacular scenery on well marked trails to huts at elevations ranging from 710m-1450m. Past Trek: Fjords of North East of Iceland, 2013
Our trek will take us through the magnificent landscapes of mountains and fjords of the unique North East of Iceland. The mountains come in all shapes and sizes and the variety of colors is stunning; everything from the black sands of the beaches to the pinkish orange hues of the mountain ridges. The closeness to the ocean sets its mark on this tour. Each day we follow old trails between isolated coves and fjords over colourful hills and down green valleys to the sea and the drone of the North Atlantic Ocean. A one-of-a-kind adventure as we retrace Marco Polo’s steps along the Silk Road in Uzbekistan, to majical Samarkand and discover a region that even today defies description. From the Silk Road we will travel to the Fan Mountains of Tajikistan where will will trek through fabulous alpine scenery, surrounded by clear streams, turquoise lakes, and magnificent jagged peaks.
